Echinopsis Rose Quartz

$13.00

A Cascade of Radiant Color

The Echinopsis 'Rose Quartz' (often labeled as a Chamaelobivia hybrid) is a horticultural favorite that combines the rugged, clumping nature of the "Peanut Cactus" with the oversized, spectacular floral genetics of the Echinopsis family. This hybrid is beloved for its "unstoppable" blooming habit and its ability to quickly fill a container with a sea of pink.

  • Dazzling "Rose Quartz" Blooms: True to its name, this cactus produces an abundance of large, trumpet-shaped flowers in a shimmering, neon-rose to deep pink. The petals have a satiny, translucent quality that catches the light, making the entire plant look like a cluster of glowing gemstones during its peak spring bloom.

  • Charming "Peanut" Stems: The plant features finger-sized, light green stems covered in short, soft, bristly white spines. These stems start upright but quickly begin to trail and "spill" over the edges of pots, creating a lush, textured carpet of growth.

  • Prolific Clumping Habit: One of the fastest-growing hybrids in the collection, 'Rose Quartz' offset (pups) generously. Within a single season, a small plant can transform into a dense, multi-stemmed colony, providing multiple points for flower buds to emerge.

  • Year-Round Visual Interest: Even when not in bloom, the tight clusters of ribbed, "fuzzy" stems provide a unique architectural texture that complements smoother succulents or larger columnar cacti.

All potted plants are local pickup only. Shipped plants will be bare root (no pot or soil).

Care and Growing

'Rose Quartz' is widely considered one of the easiest cacti to grow, making it a perfect "starter" plant that offers professional-level floral rewards.

  • Light Needs: Prefers Full Sun to Bright, Indirect Light. While it loves the sun, providing some light afternoon shade in the height of summer will keep the stems a vibrant green and prevent them from turning a stressed reddish-brown.

  • Water Needs: Moderate (for a cactus). During the spring and summer, it enjoys regular watering once the soil has dried out. It is more forgiving of a missed watering than most plants but should be kept mostly dry during its winter rest to ensure a heavy bloom.

  • Soil Needs: Requires Well-Draining, Gritty Soil. A standard cactus and succulent mix amended with 30-50% perlite or pumice is ideal. It appreciates a slightly richer organic content than desert "ball" cacti to support its fast growth.

  • Temperature & Hardiness: Surprisingly hardy! It can tolerate temperatures down to 20°F (-7°C) for short periods if kept dry. A cool winter dormancy is highly recommended, as the chill actually "charges" the plant to produce more flowers in the spring.

Add the vibrant, cascading beauty of the 'Rose Quartz' Cactus to your collection and enjoy one of the most reliable floral displays in the succulent world!
