Polka Dot Cactus
Soft Looks, Spunky Personality
The White Bunny Ears Cactus (Opuntia microdasys 'Albata') is a stunning and popular cultivar of the classic Bunny Ears Cactus. It is a highly sought-after plant, instantly recognizable by its flat, segmented pads that resemble upright rabbit ears.
Fuzzy Appearance, Unique Texture: Unlike other cacti, the Opuntia microdasys has no sharp spines, but is instead densely covered in small clusters of tiny, short, barbed hairs called glochids. In the 'Albata' variety, these glochids are a beautiful silvery-white or bright cream, giving the plant a soft, plush, and fuzzy appearance that contrasts beautifully with the green pads.
Architectural Growth: The plant grows in segments, with new, round pads emerging from the tops of older pads, creating a charming, branching, upright silhouette. It remains relatively compact, making it an excellent feature for windowsills or small desks.
Low-Maintenance Charm: This cactus offers high visual impact with minimal fuss. Its quirky, segmented structure adds a delightful, modern touch to any space, and its care needs are typical of the easy-going desert cactus family.
All potted plants are local pickup only. Shipped plants will be bare root (no pot or soil).

Important Note on Handling
*Although the White Bunny Ears Cactus appears soft, the tiny white glochids detach easily upon contact and can be irritating to the skin. Always handle this plant with thick gloves or tongs.
Essential Care
The 'Albata' is a hardy specimen that thrives on neglect and bright light.
Light Needs: Requires Full Sun (at least 6 hours of direct sun) to thrive and maintain its desirable compact shape. Place it in your sunniest window (South or West-facing, if indoors).
Water Needs: Very Drought Tolerant. Water deeply but infrequently. Allow the soil to become completely dry for several days before watering again. Reduce watering drastically in the winter dormant period.
Soil Needs: Must have Extremely Well-Draining Soil, such as a professional cactus or succulent mix.1 Ensure the pot has a large drainage hole.
Temperature: Protect from frost. Ideal temperatures are above $50^\circ\text{F}$ ($10^\circ\text{C}$).
