The Spiny Pincushion Cactus (Mammillaria spinosissima), also called “The Redheaded Irishman”, is a small, rounded cactus covered in dense, bristly spines that give it a pincushion-like appearance. The spines can be red-brown or white. This beautiful cactus grows up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall and 4 inches (10 cm) wide. It prefers bright, direct sunlight but can tolerate some shade. Water regularly during the growing season, but allow the soil to dry out completely between watering. Reduce watering in winter.
