Torch Cactus Hybrid
A Spectacular Floral Display
The Torch Cactus Hybrid (Trichocereus grandiflorus) is a durable, easy-to-grow columnar cactus celebrated for its breathtaking, oversized flowers. Bred specifically for their stunning floral power, these hybrids offer an explosion of color that few other cacti can match.
Jumbo Blooms: Be prepared for a floral show! The spectacular, trumpet-shaped flowers are typically 4 to 6 inches across, with some hybrids producing blooms up to 8 inches in diameter.
Vibrant Color Range: While the parent species are often red, the hybrids come in an incredible array of vivid, eye-catching colors, including fiery red, hot pink, sunset orange, brilliant yellow, and multi-colored picotee patterns. Note: Flower color is a delightful mystery until the first bloom, especially from seed-grown plants!
Sturdy Form: This cactus forms thick, robust columnar stems that can reach 2 to 4 feet tall in cultivation. Its ridged, bluish-green body is adorned with short, golden to reddish spines, providing excellent texture and visual interest even when not in bloom.
All potted plants are local pickup only. Shipped plants will be bare root (no pot or soil).

Trichocereus grandiflorus Hybrid
Grower's Guide & Care
This hybrid is as tough as it is beautiful, inheriting the resilience of its native Argentinian lineage. It's an ideal choice for both seasoned collectors and beginners.
Sunlight: Requires Full Sun (6+ hours of direct sun) to promote thick growth and heavy flowering.
Watering: Low. Water thoroughly only when the soil has completely dried out. Cut back significantly or stop watering in winter.
Soil: Use a highly porous, well-draining cactus mix (e.g., standard soil mixed with sand, perlite, or pumice).
Hardiness: Mild Frost Tolerant (Hardy down to about 15°F/Zone 8), but protect from prolonged hard freezes and cold, wet conditions.
Growth Rate: Moderate. Forms attractive, clumping specimens over time.
Whether used as a dramatic focal point in a large container or planted in a water-wise landscape, the Trichocereus grandiflorus hybrid promises a magnificent, colorful reward for minimal care.
